It was pouring with rain, and so we were the only people visiting, but we the staff were very attentive and friendly. We saw a red squirrel, very exciting!!!

Lovely place to visit. Different from other NT places, very chilled and felt like home except with amazing views. So much for kids and adults - painting, reading, knitting, exploring... Definitely coming again in summer.
A perfect spot to chill - I can imagine it being a perfect spot to spend a lazy afternoon with a book. I love the fact that you make your own tea and coffee - adding to the chilled vibe.
This is a lovely place to visit especially when the weather isn't too good. A beautiful house with natural character in lovely grounds. We spent hours here with a picnic and play room for the children. You can sit and admire the scenery from one of many rooms with comfortable sofas. Make yourself hot drinks (great range) for a donation. All staff were welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about the history of the house. A definite place to visit when in the area.
This is a rather unusual national trust property. Largely undecorated and without original fixtures and fittings Allan Bank has come a long way since the Trust took it on in 2012. Very much family orientated it contains rooms for painting, crafting, knitting, reading, and observation of the wild life. We love it, William Wordsworth (a former inhabitant) hated it! Outside there is a great woodland trail complete with a tunnel and den making area. Great views of Grasmere lake can be had from inside and the gardens. A really relaxed place, make yourself a hot drink (for donations ) and take it outside to the gardens and sit in a deck chair or when raining sit anywhere inside. Staff are very nice and very knowledgeable and approachable. When in Grasmere this is our number one destination.
