Humble ruins of a 5th century early Byzantine basilica church that was destroyed during the Arab invasion of the middle of the 7th century. The Arab invasion and subsequent occupation of Paphos left the church ruined as its building was potentially used to host a garrison. A long marble column shaft strewn on the floor has a series of carved Arabic graffiti on it. There are also a few sections of remaining mosaic floor pavement. They are covered for protection. Once the Arabs withdrew from Paphos a new smaller church was built on the site which was subsequently ruined in a 12th century earthquake.

Beautiful place
If you interested in history, this place is amazing. So much to see, especially the mosaics. Incredible that have been so well preserved. There are shaded areas to sit in if the heat gets to you on your visit around the site, a vending machine inside a room about halfway round, and very clean toilets just inside the entrance and halfway round too. Very reasonable ticket price.
