Very friendly gliding club well used to accommodating groups from other gliding clubs wanting to take advantage of their excellent ridge and wave soaring opportunities. Camping available on site for visiting pilots. This would be a great place to come for gliding experience days as the ridge and wave soaring make for interesting flights that many glider pilots don't experience until they have been flying for quite some time. Experienced instructors, friendly tug pilots and members. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!

A great friendly club situated in a most spectacular location. Excellent instructor and welcoming group of people. Recommend Black Mountain Gliding Club for first experience flight, or if you're a qualified pilot. I'll definitely be going back, despite the distance.
Richard Smith. This was my first time gliding and it was an amazing and exhilarating experience. Once you’re in the air it is such a peaceful and beautiful place with wonderful views over several counties. The instructors are very experienced and provide excellent tuition and give you the opportunity to take over the controls yourself while at the same time telling you about the the terrain you are flying over and what you can see from the cockpit. A truly memorable experience, just wish I had the time to do it on a regular basis.

I was thrilled to be given a flight as a present, if a little nervous. I absolutely loved it. I was worried about take off and landing, but they are way calmer than in a plane. This meant I could absolutely enjoy the fabulous views, and marvel at how close one can get to a sheep without its blinking an eye. I have been coming to the Black Mountains all my life and adored getting this bird's eye view. The running commentary from my pilot was hilarious and the welcome from the club was so warm and reassuring. A great present. I am giving a flight to my husband for Christmas! You should too...
