Open huge expanse of heathland nearby to Calderdale Royal Hospital. There is a cafe along a central road which runs through, plenty of parking space. If you visit Mcdonalds about ¾mile (other side of hospital) away for breakfast and go upto this park before sunrise you can catch some glorious sunrises like we have. There's also the chance to walk your food off either on the vast heathland or inside the adjacent Manor Heath Park too, which is enclosed within its own grounds walls and also has a cafe toilets and play areas. We've visited here from Huddersfield for years with our children dog mainly at Manor Heath, but kids have played on the heathland too but now they've grown up its just us enjoying the heathland. It is between bus routes but is within walking distance of one. There is plenty of free parking around. There are toilets like I said nearby inside Manor Heath Park not sure if they are disabled friendly or not (but Mcdonalds down the road has one if not). Halifax also hold the agricultural show here in June time-ish. It is a unique setting and well worth a ½day or even a day visit if you visit Manor Heath and there's Wainhouse Tower within walking distance (½mile) too which is open to the public and you can scale its 400 steps for panoramic views of the Calder Valley.

Savile Park is an area I know well and has an open Moor area for dog walking, social gatherings, sports activities and public events such as fun fairs, agricultural shows and charity events. There is the New Lodge Fisheries which is an excellent cafe with a high quality take away service. Below this is Manor Heath Park which is an ideal place for walking, social gatherings and has a play area for children. Nearby there is Albert Promenade which has stunning views across the Calder Valley and looks down a rocky cliff known locally as The Rocks. Lower down there is extensive woodland which stretches down to the Rochdale Canal. Towards the end of top side of Promenade is Wainhouse Tower a folly which was built between 1871 and 1875 although it is only open to the public during bank holidays. Around Savile Park itself are various shops such as a Newsagents , Hairdresses and a local Pharmacy. There are two local Tesco's in the area one hypermarket at King Cross and a Tesco Express further down on Huddersfield Road. Overall it is an accessible area for local amenities whilst having a variety of open space to enjoy some free time with friends or alone.

Very nice park, nice and tidy and well maintained, plenty of parking on the road so easy access, wide open fields for all the family to enjoy, go for a walk, play football or cricket, walk the dog, or sit down on a bench and read a book,
