Nice wine but not many bottled beers
I purchased a bottle of fizzy white wine as it was my friend's birthday. After opening and pouring a glass we saw that the wine was totally flat, not a single bubble, no gas at all. I seriously considered the fact that the bottle could be old or bad. It was the only bottle in the shop and priced at 6.99. I was told by Babu the shop assistant to return the next day. I told him it was my friend's birthday now and that I don't live in Herne Bay. I asked him to phone his boss or superior. He refused. Customers in the shop were supportive but it took 40 minutes to convince this guy to make a call. The assistant was African and the guy on the phone sounded Asian. Neither had any clue or knowledge about wine. Both had abused me by implying I was dodgy. They referred to alcoholics that drink vodka, replace the content with water and try to get a refund. They implied that I was dodgy because the bottle was open, how oould I know the wine was faulty without opening it? I checked on the internet to confirm it was a fizzy wine as indicated on the bottle. I refused to take the bottle and said I would complain to consumer advice. They said they didn't give a damn. The guy on the phone just insisted that it was not a Prosecco which clearly I knew. I indicated that it should be fizzy, have gas and bubbles though. This was a Prince Paul Henri wine. I am disgusted with the treatment, lack of professionalism and being stereotyped.
