I used to really like this shop but over the last year thyt make it almost impossible to shop in there. Of you are about to spend like 100 on fish, you'd rather want to be able to shop together with your partner. On the other hand they don't seem to have a problem to keep one customer onsidi for 40 min while there's a queue of 10 people waiting outside. They really need to get their s... together eventually!

Amazing quality of fish, always come here if I'm going to make sushi or ceviche and if you order in advance over the phone they can prepare the type, quantity and cut of the fish too They also have really nice Sake and plum wine.
Small shop. I feel crazy they only allow 2 people in the shop during covid -19. I won’t go back there. You have to queue long time for small shopping.
Was amazing back in the day when my mum used to bring me along. Original Japanese staff have since all left. In my most recent visit, when waiting in the queue, the staff took a phone call and asked if I could speak Japanese. The nerve!!! Fish were cut poorly (cuts incomplete and angles all wrong), separating veg (not tsuma) was distressed and several bones still present. My mum would be sad.
When you go to Atariya ! You go all out to shop ! One of the best place to source really fresh sushi fish! Sashimi grade raw fish! Look at the sushi party I had at home buying all the raw fish from the best Japanese fish monger in town :) btw it’s better than the average sushi place :)
