This building, now greatly modified was formerly Perlacher Forest Chapel of the US Army. It was a multi-denominational Chapel serving American servicemen and their families as well as other Americans stationed in Munich. I visited this building in 2001 as it was being modified, and met the Russian Orthodox Priest. The alter was changed, the organ and the pews were removed. Formerly near the alter there were beautiful blue stained glass windows that made the alter glow in a bluish color. The interior colors were deep red for the carpet, white walls, dark royal blue trim, oak pews. There was a choir loft above the entrance of the chapel. There was a Hammond organ with Leslie Speaker that gave a magnificent sound. Protestant, Jewish, and Catholic services were held there. My friend, Brad Wood and I served as acolytes for Protestant services there from 1963-1965. The Protestant Chaplains I remember were Sullivan and Tupy.
