Two days prior I had ordered a \Cacao\ drink, it tasted nothing like the real Nicaraguan drink, they used water instead of milk. Didn't have any complaints about the food (other than portions) so went back two days later. As you can see, I spent almost 120 at this place, but yet they refused to let me sample the \Cacao\ drink. I wanted to give them another shot at it, maybe this time was done right. Most places let you sample their homemade drinks or soups at your request. It's not only the fact that they didn't want to give me a spoonful of Cacao after all that I spent there, but their attitude just made it even worse. They definitely lack customer service and don't know how to do Cacao, I doubt they are even Nicaraguan.

I've been here at least 10x and it's worth the drive! My parents are from Nicaragua so i grew up eating this food. It's a small spot but good service and the food is GREAT! I always get a carne asada fritanga and it's always perfect. While i wait I usually get a Toña beer or a Rojita. This is the only Nicaraguan restaurant in the DMV and is definitely worth trying.

The restaurant is very Nicaraguan with a nice selection of ethnic food from the country. The Quesillo is very popular and worth driving 45 minutes (I actually drive that far) as I haven't found a nicer place that serves Nicaraguan cuisine. That said, the wait is long, longer than quoted on the phone and, today, they made my eggs were cooked the wrong way and the pen used to sign credit card receipts isn't cleaned. I had to ask the lady to clean the pen and when she said that that was the only pen they had there I told her to refund my money and I'd pay with cash. The lady said that she didn't have time and went to find a pen, found one and I was able to pay with a clean pen. If you have time to sit down and wait around for your food, it's a pleasant experience and the food is good. Quesillo is best, breakfast dishes are good and I'd try the carne asada or chimichurri dishes. The nacatamle are too greasy and you can't taste the ingredients as you can taste in good Nacatamale. All this said, it's labor intensive and timing consuming to make this ethnic food and it's a labor of love to cook to share this unique cuisine. Noy many authentic Nicaraguan restaurants around. Worth a trip to try all the yummy food!!
