Been wanting to go on this for ages, was not disappointed! Staff are great and explain what you need to do. A really good experience, spent a night on the river at Northwich before going back up on the lift the next day. Excellent!

Visitor centre was closed, but the structure is visible/semi accessible from the canal walks.
Lovely morning spent on admiring the beauty of engineering ;) it was our first visit so we weren't sure what to expect, especially now in Covid times. On arrival we discovered that the car park was huge, the pay machines didn't work on that day once we approached the entrance to the boat lift we were asked to leave details for NHS track and trace, the main outside area is open, plenty of picnic area and benches where you can sit and relax, the cafe is open too and sells refreshments to take away, toilets open inside only, there are lots of information posters about the boat lift with interesting facts. The boat lift itself is amazing and so quiet! For such a large machine I was surprised to hear no noise! It is a great experience to watch the canal boats being lifted up and down;) would love to be in the boat;) The play are for children is open. Once you have done exploring the boat lift you can go and visit dragonfly sanctuary or do a walk along the canal. We did both , it was lovely
Wonderful to go down the Anderton Boat lift in our own boat - great experience - lovely CRT staff. A great place to while away a couple of hours watching the boats, and a coffee shop and seating areas. Highly recommend a visit
Lovely place to explore some brilliant engineering and source of information if you are interested in boats and a place to visit for all ages, shop and cafe in the main building. Downstairs to see the displays and information about the build and history of the lifts. Well worth a visit.
