a year ago Amazing service, amazing food, amazing atmosphere. The experience matches the price though but if you can afford it I absolutely recommend going there. And when you get there just sit down and enjoy it as much as you can

The chefs are all smiling and happy and you also get to have a quick tour of the prep kitchen. The interior is interesting because you sit on a level below looking up at the prep kitchen. The food was innovative and executed well. The best dish was their signature dish and you could definitely tell why. All in all it was a great experience.
Stunning! Absolutely stunning! A four hour 20 course lunch with colleagues, perfect service, friendly and comfortable atmosphere, magical flavours and incredible presentation. Nothing but mind blowing come food and service. I had the juice pairing which was superb, did not miss the wine a second! Thanks for having us!
Mind blowing food. Each ingredient is carefully selected to compose an amazing combination of tastes. This is an expensive place, but also a once in a lifetime experience.
This is my 3rd time dining and the first in the summer. The previous two times were in December. Each time I come it’s a memorable experience. I have been to a handful of 1 and 2 star restaurants and Maaemo definitely knows how to take it to 11 - the 3rd star is deserving. The food is tasty and unique and the staff are incredibly warm and attentive. It’s a very approachable meal and I absolutely love coming here - it’s one of the most special things I have done and look forward to each opportunity to visit Oslo so that I can experience another meal at Maaemo. On this last trip and visit to the kitchen I got to meat the chef - Esben Holmboe Bang. What a warm and friendly person who takes great pride in his restaurant, staff and food. I love how at the end of each dinner they present you with a menu and artwork from the restaurant. I have found that I cannot handle the full wine pairing any more, so I appreciate that they can tailor a selection of wines during the meal. I learned that Maaemo is moving to a new location in January so I recommend trying this location before they move!
A trip to Oslo would not be complete without a stop at Maaemo. Contemporary and elegant decor. Warm and top notch service by staffs and chefs. The menu is an elevation of Nordic flavors: taste of the Scandic ocean, buttermilk, truffle seaweed..... and more. Artichoke is highly entertaining, the dessert is imitated by many but you can find the original and the best here. One more tick on my bucket list.
Excellent fish, pastry and desserts. Personable and friendly service. Meat dishes were a bit of a let down. More expensive than similar quality restaurants without the three stars label.
After they moved Maeemo are better than ever. A true 3* experience.
