Pike County Tourism CVB is a non-profit organization through the state of Kentucky with the goal of promoting Pike County, Kentucky and the surrounding region's arts, culture, entertainment and touristic offerings with the aim of increasing economic growth in the region. Pike County Tourism CVB's goal is to bring visitors from all around into our beautiful area, and show them unforgettable hospitality, beauty, and fun. We also support our local organizations to make Pikeville and Pike County the best tourist destination it can be. From 1863-1891 the Hatfield-McCoy Feud played a huge part in Pike County’s history. The McCoys generally hailed from the Kentucky side of the Tug River and the Hatfields from the West Virginia side. However, during the feud both families shared space on either side of the Tug. The feud began with the death of Asa Harmon McCoy on January 7, 1863. Members of the “Logan Wildcats” despised McCoy because he had joined the Union Army during the Civil War. Harmon had been discharged from the army early because of a broken leg. Several nights after he returned home, he was murdered in a nearby cave. After several incidents throughout the years the feud ended in February 1890 when Ellison “Cotton Top” Mounts was hanged for the murder of Allifair McCoy. For more information or a free driving tour brochure of the Hatfield-McCoy feud sites call 606 432-5063 or email [email protected] (an audio is available for a nominal fee.)

It's wonderful that there is a group of people so actively promoting our home! I love seeing all the tour busses bringing tourists into our area, but that's not all! There are many interesting things for people who live here, too. The Hatfield McCoy driving tour comes to mind first. It's an ideal way to spend the weekend with family and friends! Thanks Pike County Tourism for all of these opportunities!

It took me a second to find the little place, but once I did I was met with a warm welcome. The guy was super nice and informative. Didn't try and push anything off on me or anything. In fact, pretty sure he was trying to tell me not to buy the Hatfield and McCoy's audio tour CD because the map was free. Ps. Don't buy the audio tour!!
