I would recommend this hospital purely on the fact of how great Mr Armstrong and every member of nursing staff have been. Even when certain things didn't go to plan they made me feel so reassured and comfortable. Thank you to everyone once again!
Incompetent: Referred by GP (NHS referral) and had a choice of two hospitals and chose the Spire Reading as the web booking tool quoted a 5 day wait. This turned out to be a 14 day wait when the available appointments where presented (but still shorter than the alternative 25 day wait elsewhere). Turned up at the Spire on the allocated day and time only to find out that the appointment didn't exist and that I wasn't even in the system! Was told by reception that there were no consultants present and that they couldn't offer me any guidance as to how long I would have to wait to get an appointment! Was given a phone number to call to re-make appointment. Called the number and turned out that they couldn't re-book the appointment other than say sometime in August because they didn't know when their consultant would be available again. They also stated that they cancelled my original appointment two days after I had made it and let me know. I never received a phone call or a letter from the Spire cancelling any appointment.
Dr Keast and Dr Stringer are both so lovely and helpful. 100% would recommend. Thank you.
Asked for a breakdown of expected costs but didn't get in time, before the Bill's came to 1600. The place is hopelessly sign posted to find the correct entrance. The nurses and Hospital Staff in the innards of the place who did the Xray, Blood tests and Scans were excellent. They saw me same day and were faultless. The Office staff and admin staff were unhelpful and frustratingly incompetent for anywhere let alone for a Private Hospital where you are paying with your hard earned. Invoices and payments liaison with my insurance is absolutely appalling and confusing. Cover staff didnt know who I was or why I was emailing them. I was given the impression I'd be in top hands with a diagnosis for all in 1000. Very disappointed with my Consultant Heamatologist who was 'kind' to me but padded out the second consultation of 30mins what could of taken 5. And still haven't found out why my blood counts are on the baseline of high. Was told there is 'plenty of time yet' to continue with tests etc. Well I am unable to continue with an open ended private payment situation with no knowing when I will get a diagnosis. I would not choose to go back to The Spire Dunedin Hospital. Maybe it is too much to expect that I would have got a diagnosis? Thank you for all of you who were excellent and the rest needs a serious overhaul to get up to date with private customer service.
