Sports Complex: Round Rock This youth baseball & softball complex is one of the best, not only in ATX, but in the United States. When I was a child, I grew up in a small rural town, which bordered a failing urban metro area. We played little league where ever there was a backstop and an open field. Sometimes there was a dirt infield, but most of the time, we were just lucky to have bases. These fields at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock are anything but what I just described. They are a world-class collection of 22 fields, complete with immaculate natural grass playing surfaces, manicured infields, covered grandstands for fans, playgrounds for little ones, and digital scoreboards for each field. Some of the larger fields have full-blown digital scoreboards like the big leagues, which record each inning, strike/ball and errors. In a way, it's a shame my son will never get to experience what it was like playing in such terrible conditions, but on the other hand, he won't get a broken ankle from stepping in a hole that was covered up by overgrown grass. #12DaysofChristmasATX
