Good restaurant. Nice flair/cozy, good service and nice extras like bread with butter and chocolate with the bill. Fish and chips was nice, but no citron. Great salad with it. Burger was great in the combination, but the meat a bit over cooked. French Fries just standard, e.g. stake-house fries would have been better. Good cocktails, and happy hour from 15-19 at 1500 isk. Over all a fair price for the food.

Excellent food and friendly staff.
SALT turned out to be my favorite meal in Reykjavik. We first walked past during the day and quickly became curious based on the setting. The small wooden tables and chairs along with the warmth from the fireplace were very inviting as soon as we walked in. Prices did a bottle of wine were not bad, knowing what alcohol costs when going out downtown. A starter of scallops followed by a local favorite with the lamb shank was a perfect end to the day.
From the outside it's not much to look at. A wooden hut divided into 3 units. Walking in it resembles a fisherman's hut that has been filled with tables and chairs. And that's where the resemblance to anything fisherman related ends. The welcome was pretty much instant. Shown to a table for two as I was with my wife and menus presented. The choice is small but to be honest it didn't need to be any bigger, maybe a half dozen main courses but never the less something for everyone and to suit all tastes. A range of starters and specials are also available accompanied by a decent selection of hot and cold drinks. Water and bread provided before the orders were taken and drinks arrived promptly. The food was excellent with the salad and vegetables prepared and cooked to perfection. If you like your vegetables to be melt in the mouth then this is not the place for you. We were there for close to 2 hours. It was almost full when we arrived and there was a constant flow of new customers as tables became available which says a lot in itself. A really good experience and one I would repeat if I was back in Reykjavik.
If I need to choose a place to eat in Reykjavik will be Salt kitchen. This was the best meal we have in our stay in Iceland. The local lamb was amazing, it just melt in your mouth. The service could improve a little ;)
Everything was nice, had the salmon dinner. Husband had the fish and chips. Fish was fried great but the fries were less than average. Everything was a little on the oily side, but it was seasoned well. Staff was great and got us out in time for our boat tour.
On the slightly pricey side of Iceland. But the fish and chips were great. Some of the best we've had. Go during happy hour if you'd like to drink. My margarita was delicious.
The seafood here is absolutely amazing. I ordered the salmon and it was hands down the best salmon I’ve ever had in my life (I live in Florida). The scallops were very flavorful and not chewy at all. The place is very cozy and staff is friendly and helpful. 10/10 recommended! :)
