Under new management, on entry I received a \hello\ I looked around and checked out the store, the aquatics room is undergoing a tidy up. There's a wide selection of fireworks, lots of pond chemicals and other various pieces. The reptiles have gone and are covered by a garden fence, the same tanks are in place as before. You can change the staff as much as you like but unless the owners give the manager permission to make actual decisions backed with finance then nothing will change here, the little plant stock is not worthy of being sold, the fish pricing is now per fish and no group purchases are available. I wish this place the best but it's very obvious things need to change dramatically, maybe that will happen. But giving it a lick of paint and moving stock around isn't the way forward, sort out the cockroaches and use your shop floor space appropriately. Previous review: This was one of the best aquatics shops around for a few months. I want to be clear that the shop has two sections, upstairs is reptile based and has since made massive positive changes, I cannot fault the staff and there effort regarding this area. However the aquarium section has been up and down for the last few months. It used to be unmanaged and a retail nightmare, it then improved with a staff change and a decent manager who understood retail, welcoming customers and providing good advice. The last four visits have been a disappointment, poor quality of fish and a massive increase in cockroaches, you will see them crawling everywhere and the tanks smell of ammonia or chemicals. A hello when visiting costs nothing and makes you feel welcome. I don’t advise you visit until customer service and hygiene is accounted for. I’d like to note I’ve spoken to staff about my concerns and nothing has changed. Upstairs is great but downstairs needs to make some changes.

Excellent service but could do with more fish, apart from that very good.
When Pets at Home does a better job with fish you know a fish shop is bad. Fish in the wrong water, wrong substrate for species not for sale (Fahaka puffer on gravel, what kind of person does that? I'll answer that question for you...one who doesn't really know what they're doing). Other than a tank full of very good condition Discus, this shop offers you nothing more than the same selection your local pet shop would have given you in 1984. Out of all of the tropical fish shops in Cornwall, this is by far the worst (including every single Pets at Home).
These 4 little guys just came from saltash. Now enjoying the new pond and eating the creepieds
