Repair was carried out tentatively and crafted very well. Slightly longer than one would expect but presumably down to being a sole trader working alone

Don't mind the cost for a full rebuild, Hornby class 29, 50, but poor communication, if any, and HTR should have explained there was at least a 3 month wait before taking my money. To say I was dissappointed on eventual return is an understatement. The metal clip holding the motor drive gears was off and one gear was in the wrapping! Fortunately I have enough knowledge to fix this and the motor ran superbly thereafter. On placing the loco on the track for a full track test subsequently, I noticed the non motor end was 3mm higher than the motor end. The whole loco was very wobbly too! To obtain better electrical connections, solder is used rather than the original spade clips, but on the trailing bogie, the connection was screwed very neatly to the bogie. All well and good, but nobody checked to see if the new screw actually cleared the chassis, which it didn't! These guys are meant to be experts! Again, 10 minutes with a file to reshape part of the plastic chassis, and clearance now ok, and loco runs beautifully. On looking at other reviews, it is clear the boss at HTR has an unfortunate manner (!) and does not deserve my further custom. I have to say I usually use the excellent Dave Good at Scalespeed who communicates well, and turns round loco repairs in 3 weeks, not 3 months. He fixed 3 of my locos in the time HTR took to do my class 29, for around half the price too, and they worked faultlessly on return as per usual. I only tried HTR because Dave was moving house and couldn't do repairs for a couple of months! Fortunately he is back up and running again. No prizes for guessing where my next repair jobs will go!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you want to wait for over three months for the repair to be carried out - after you had paid in full - and unless you are prepared to put up with the rudeness and arrogance shown to other reviewers, which I experienced when I had the temerity to ask when they might get round to carrying out the work for which I had paid weeks before. I was then harangued at great length as to why I had used a telephone number which apparently was a private family number. \Don't you EVER use this number again!\. When I pointed out that this was the number - in fact the only number - on their invoice, did I get an apology? You must be joking! They eventually did the work, so just about merit 1 star. Reviewer - David Skinner Phoned this company up to ask where my order was at. Was told to \f*** off and get a refund as my order was so small and worthless to them\. This is despite my order being over their minimum order amount. Unfortunately had to explain this to my young son who the parts were for. He wants me to report them to trading standards, which I am currently considering doing. Now going through paypal resolution to get a refund. Absolutely awful company. I only gave them 1 star as I had to give them something in order to write this review. In reality I would give them a minus rating. Just want to warn other innocent people.
