A nice place to walk around. With great castle ruins, the tidal mill and pleasant surrounding grounds, definitely worth the visit.

What a lovely walk around the castle and tidal mill. That's roughly and hour, but we take our time as my dog has a dodgy heart. Free parking, and plenty of wildlife too see.
Carew Castle and Tidal Mill’s rich history spans over 2,000 years and tells of knights of the realm, kingmakers, Elizabethan intrigue and Civil War devastation. Set in a stunning location overlooking a 23-acre Millpond, the Castle is one of the most architecturally diverse in Wales; from the west a Norman fortress, yet from the north a splendid Elizabethan mansion.
Lovely visit, covid restrictions being well managed and not too obtrusive so able to enjoy exploring this great castle. Staff were excellent - friendly and engaging about the restrictions. Very green throughout the site with cafe disposables all compostable/recyclable. Tea and scone was lovely in a pretty setting. The walk right round the tidal mill and castle is good, an easy mile or so and the castle backdrop is magnificent. Arm your small child with a wooden sword and leave the rest to their imagination!
I'm not proficient in talking about castles, but as part of our visit to the area we've decided to visit one. When experienced through observation only it did make me stop and think of the story this place is hiding. Part of the structure had been completely destroyed, so was floor and supporting structures in places.
