The best British Indian restaurant in Kent. Still, not being biased of course, Birmingham holds the accolade of best British Indian restaurant on God’s green earth;) Like with many British Indian restaurants, service is respectful and humble. At Turmeric Gold the level of service is higher than normal . Delivery of food is faster, attention to detail is higher, assistance is higher quality. The restaurant is large, set up to cater for well over 100 people. The decor is mixed, most of the space has the Indian restaurant white cotton feel. Some of the interior is definitely new in direction, leaning more to an artistic, bright space. Dishes are beautifully presented, ingredients are very high quality and prepared fresh. The food portions are huge, excellent value for money. Turmeric gold was filling up as I left at 7:00pm on a Tuesday. It looks like it’s quite popular with locals. I recommend booking prior to your visit.

The food here is normally really good although there is a tendency to find they have left stuff off the order or given you the completely wrong order. My friends have also corroborated this and had the same experience. New Year’s Eve was like an episode of Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares. Having orders about three hours ahead of collections here was a queue of 10 people outside and 15 or so more inside. I asked if one guy was queuing and he said good luck as his order was for 6.30 and he was waiting. I arrived at 8.25 for mine. They were about 2 hours behind and were giving out free cobra with the orders to placate the angry masses. We never got our food. I can’t help thinking their online ordering solution is not quite effective yet. I won’t be going back and my lost order cost them a hundred pounds in revenue. Many others were demanding refunds. It sort of spoilt the evening as we ordered early and were given 8.25 as a pick up and ended up having pizza at about 10pm. I hope they sort it out soon.

Great service. For instance, when approaching the table, the waiter announced himself by saying \Sorry to interrupt\. Polite, much better than simply talking over the guest conversation, as is all too common these days. And attentive. As soon as a waiter spotted me holding a card to pay the bill, he immediately went to fetch a portable card payment terminal. The food was very good, made from fresh ingredients, and of course, they have a great clay oven. The hygiene standards are first class (five stars from the local council inspection - download the 'scores on the doors' app to check food hygiene and safety standards at local restaurants). Nice atmosphere. Baby chairs, wheel chair access, busy/popular, nice table layout. Price reasonable - cost us around 34 for two meals with drinks.
