This is the best coaster at Kennywood. I love the airtime and hangtime all around the ride. It is an insane ride with tons of positive and negative G forces in a pretty long ride experience. It is very well paced and looks great. The Lap Bars are very comfortable. The operations were slow in 2019, but I think that they will be better in 2021.

Steel Curtain is probably the most utilitarian coaster in the world, with its incredibly industrial looking steel pipe lattice and loud chain lift. Combined with the huge size and steelers colors, this enormous ride is perfect for Pittsburgh and by extension Kennywood. It's also an awesome ride. Nine inversions. Some are smooth and towering like in the first half, others are snappy and low to the ground like in the second half. To keep the layout spicy, there are airtime hills and curves between some of the inversions. Steel Curtain, as a result, is a fast and well paced hyper looper coaster. It's also comfortable with its lap bars that don't tighten during the ride. This is my favorite coaster at Kennywood and one of the best thrill machines in America.

This coaster is kind of strange looking, but it seems that's the kind of coasters S&S are building these days. Galeforce in Ocean City, New Jersey is a good example of strange looking. Anyway, this ride is worth it, very smooth! Transitions into the inversions pretty well also. This is a record breaker with the most inversions in the United States with 9 inversions!!! This coaster is themed to a degree but not heavily themed to the Pittsburgh Steelers. At the station it looks a little like a locker room and the ride operators are dressed like referee's, while the for your safety recording is playing it is the voice of Bill Hillgrove who was a former announcer of the Pittsburgh Steelers by using football lingo. Then as you're climbing the lift hill you hear the song Renegade by Styx which is a rally song for the Steelers. I think all of that is pretty cool, although I feel it could have been more heavily themed with the station. The downfall and the reason for 3 stars is that since it's opened it's been down for repairs a few times including a full year of being closed in 2020. I highly recommend this coaster for any age tall enough to ride and also if you love the Steelers.
Fantastic addition to the park. I've ridden them all, and this is one of the best. I was asked if it's better than Steel Vengeance and I couldn't decide. I'll say it's just as thrilling but in a different way. Upon arrival, we went straight to the line for the Steel Curtain. After an hour and 40 mins, we were seated in the front row. And WOW what a ride! I was too scared to go hands up on that first inversion, but on our second ride of the day I did. HANDS UP and laughing all the way. For the reviewers criticizing the lap bar and belt being the only restraint - I ask you just how many people have fallen out? I'm waiting...that's right - NONE! Ride ops need to be trained to call for single riders. When you're standing in a very hot long line, and you see a train going up the hill with three empty seats, it's maddening. Also, thank goodness for the recorded message while boarding and unloading because the ride ops all have their backs turned. That's where Steel Vengeance (or maybe just the park) excels. They welcome the riders back, and ask \HOW WAS YOUR RIDE!?\ while smiling. The riders all cheer. THAT'S what Kennywood needs.
